What are these programs?

All the programs listed here ship with windows 98, but are hidden in that windows doesn't setup links to them anywhere. They can all be accessed easily by typing there filename into Start->run.

MS Config
- You can get to ms config by clicking start->run and typing "msconfig"
- It allows you to select which programs you want to start automaticly with windows
- It gives access to advanced options like limiting ram and disabling auto scandisk after improper shutdown
- It Allows the user to edit other windows files like windows.ini
SysEdit
sysedit allows you to edit all the critical windows files in a familiar notepad like format. it overlaps with msconfig somewhat but it allows the editing to be done is a different format.
When ever I want to edit autoexec.bat or config.sys I just type sysedit.
You access sysedit by clicking start->run and typing "sysedit"
DirectX Diagnostics
DirectX Diagnostics is very usefull when trying to get sound or video drivers to go. It allows you to test all those parts of your computer. Most games and a lot of sound programs use directX so if it isn't working on your machine then you want to run this.
How do I access it?
click to Start->run and type "dxdiag"
IP Configuration
If you are seting up a home network or a tricky internet connection you need this program. It enables you to see in one glance all the settings for each device. Including DNS and DHCP servers, IP Addresses, and Gateways. (Only avaliable in win95, win98 and Millennium)

click to Start->run and type "winipcfg"
